In addition, cupping therapy, at your choice, may allow even deeper healing and relief.

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping Therapy is an ancient Chinese therapy. A method of creating healing in the body. This is achieved through negative pressure by way of suction. Accordingly, a surge of blood flow from the body underneath the cup occurs. Further, it is exciting areas accessed via the cups affects up to 10cm under the skin. It has the opposite effect of massage. Where massage techniques ‘pushes’ into soft tissue. Cupping ‘pulls’ via suction. This in my view, gives a wonderful complimentary treatment.

History of Cupping

Cupping therapy is an incredibly ancient and universal practice that spans both East and West.

In the east, the Chinese have been practising the art of cupping for at least 3000 years. Along with acupuncture and herbs, cupping forms part of the traditional bodywork of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the West, cupping had its birth in Egypt where the Egyptians saw the remedy for just about every disorder.

During your Remedial Massage session

During your massage session at Absolute Wellbeing the Bellabaci cup is used for cupping. This of course is completely your choice as an add on during your session at no additional charge. The Bellabaci cups are a flexible clear material. This incredible combination  of massage and cupping allows for release of tension via traditional massage and the drawing of toxins and elimination. It is important during your session you communicate your level of comfort/discomfort. The aim is to release tension and toxicity without extreme pain. A little discomfort may be felt. If your unsure ask.

Of course, as with any treatment, water intake is extremely important. Your healing and recovery will be greater when you are hydrated.

How does it all work?

  • Firstly, vacuum suction is created
  • This allows blood flow to the area from the arteries to the capillaries (from up to 10cm deep)
  • Nutrition and oxygen reaches the area
  • Detoxification occurs as the cells expel waste material and excess fluid
  • And finally, the suction draws the blood from the capillaries and then returns via the veins to be cleanes and de oxygenated blood cells disposed of

Cupping Therapy is well-known for its excellent healing results
